The last time the Capulin Valcano National Monument erupted was on August 9, 1916
The above answer is completely wrong. Whoever came up with it has done no research whatsoever. The only thing related to a volcano that occurred on August 9, 1916 was that Mount Lassen Volcanic Park was established in California. Capulin Mountain, located in northeastern New Mexico, has been extinct for some 60,000 years. There are many volcanic formations in the US Rocky Mountains and the adjacent Great Plains from New Mexico northward to the Dakotas, all of which are geological wonders, but none of which are recent.
