There were movie theaters around during WWII and it was the main source of information about the war for the US (since not everyone had a tv they would show news before the movie) I'm sure they had theaters in Germany at the time, so I'd feel safe saying that they did.

The word "theater" comes from ancient Greek, and can be used two ways. It originally meant a place for viewing, as in a hall where plays were performed; later, it meant a place to see movies. But during World War II, it carried another meaning. We heard about the "theater of operation" or the "Pacific theater"-- this referred to a location or region where fighting was occurring, it referenced the strategic plans for that region. So, yes there were both movie theaters and military theaters in that era. The movie theaters often showed patriotic films, and tried to keep people's spirits up. The military theaters were supervised by generals who planned the strategy specific to that region.

The Pacific War was part of World War 2. It consumed resources that would otherwise have been available to other theaters of war, just as it was denied resources needed for those other theaters. So its effect was that it took longer, and required more resources, to prosecute the entire war.
