The first throw away camera was invented in 1949 (called the Photo-Pac) and only shot 8 photos and had to be mailed in for processing. But this first disposable camera failed to make an impression on the market cause soon after it's invention A.D. Weir found an inexpensive way to enclose the 35mm film which reduced the cost of his cameras substantially in comparison to the previous Photo-Pac.
