Your question is probably because you've heard about the 300 foot waves that will pound the east coast of the US. Its predicted that an eruption could finish the cleave that was started in the 1940's eruption. A minor 1971 eruption did nothing. Eruptions occur about every 30 to 60 years, so you can do the math.
On another side note, (I know a higher-up with homeland security) the united states has watchers on the island to monitor terrorist activity. A well placed shaft of a few hundred feet and packed with explosives could trigger the slide. The shaft would not have to be as deep as an oil well or a mine shaft. It is said that it would be more effective than dropping an atomic bomb on the mountain itself. We all know that the middle easterners have a lot of experience in creating oil well
shafts.
Believe me the yanques have no official watchers on the island and I do know as I am within the Cabildo.
To answer the question - how long is a piece of string? Volcanoes do not erupt to a timetable, they care not what day or hour it is or even if you are stood in the vent. They erupt when and only when sufficient eruptable magma is present in the reservoir and the over-pressure in the reservoir is greater than the constraining pressure. The Cumbre Vieja will erupt many times before it undergoes catastrophic failure, to the point that it may fail as a series of small scale slides rather than a massive catastrophic failure.
The section that erupted in 1949 is 2.5 km long, the actual Cumbre Vieja is about 25 km long. So go back to sleep. I don't think even your great-great grandchildren will be alive if and when it fails as for you well you will be bones or ash.
An extinct volcano has not had an eruption for at least 10,000 years and is not expected to erupt again in a comparable time scale of the future.

An extinct volcano is one that will never erupt again.
As it is regarded as an extinct volcano, it is unlikely that it will erupt again.
its called dormant when it colud erupt again and extinct when it cant erupt again.
A dormant volcano is one that is just sleeping and it is possible to erupt again. An extinct volcano will never erupt again.
The volcano is said to be extinct if it hasn't erupted for at least 10,000 years.
An extinct volcano is one that will never erupt again.
It depends, a volcano can erupt once and never erupt again. Or, a volcano can erupt multiple times a day.
As it is regarded as an extinct volcano, it is unlikely that it will erupt again.
If it 'unlikely' to erupt again but it could, it's dormant.
its called dormant when it colud erupt again and extinct when it cant erupt again.

active : a volcano which is expected to erupt again or will erupt again eg.mt etna dormant : a volcano which has erupted in the last 2000 years but not recently eg Mt Baker extinct : a volcano which will not erupt again eg killimanjaro
The volcano is said to be extinct if it hasn't erupted for at least 10,000 years.
That volcano is likely to erupt again. Every volcano is different ,research on the volcano and when was the last time it erupted and then add 500 to 1000 years.
It is impossible to make long-term predictions of when a volcano will next erupt.
An extinct volcano has not had an eruption for at least 10,000 years and is not expected to erupt again in a comparable time scale of the future. This is in contract to a dormant volcano, which is an active volcano that is not erupting, but supposed to erupt again. An active volcano is a volcano that has had at least one eruption during the past 10,000 years. An active volcano might be erupting or dormant.
