When John wrote of "antichrist" in his letters, he revealed that even then there were "MANY" antichrists around.

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." (I John 2:18)

"Antichrist" is a prevailing "spirit" in the world... to this very day... that works against the Truth of God -- against [anti] Christ. It's the "attitude" of Satan.

"...this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is itin the world." (I John 4:3)

There is no scripture in the Bible that prophesys of "the Antichrist."

The Bible prophesys of a "man" that it calls the "Beast"... who will lead a resurrected end time version of Daniel's "fourth beast" [the Roman Empire]. The Beast [to whom Satan will give his power - Rev.13:2] will work jointly with a powerful global "religious organization," led by "another beast" [see Rev.13:11] who wields the power to command the worship of idols, whom the Bible calls the "False Prophet."

These three shall guide the nations of the world during the prophesied "Great Tribulation" -- what Jesus describes as a time of unprecedented global distress.

"For then shall be Great Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be [again]. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." (Matt.24:21-22)

This prophesied time... when all life on earth is threatened with extinction... will be when Jesus Christ will return with His angelic army [Matt.24:30-31]... to stop man from utterly destroying himself and the world.

Together... at the last moment... the spiritual influence of Satan, the Beast and the False Prophet shall command all the nations of the world to unify all of their military might to fight off the returning Christ.

"...I saw three unclean spirits... come out of the mouth of the Dragon [Satan], and out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the False Prophet. For they are the spirits of devils [demons], working miracles, which go forth unto all the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that Great Day of God Almighty... together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." (Rev.16:13-16)

This is the only place in the Bible where the word "Armageddon" is used. It is the place where the returning Jesus Christ will destroy man's ability to make war anymore.

"...the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdoms as yet... these... shall give their power and strength [national, military, economic] unto the Beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are Called, and Chosen, and Faithful." (Rev.17:12-14)

These are prophecies of the end of the Great Tribulation -- Jesus' triumphant return with Power and Glory -- the end of man's errant rule... and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth.

Notice that there is absolutely no mention of anyone called "the Antichrist" in any of these passages.

At best... the modern term "the Antichrist" is a biblically derived name that men have lifted out of John's letters... and have applied it to the "Beast" and the "False Prophet."

Therefore... in modern religious lore, "the Antichrist" has become a legend of our time that, somehow [thanks to Satan], has single-handedly replaced the two men whom the Bible calls the "Beast" and the "False Prophet."

The final Truth is revealed in the Bible, when the returning Jesus with His war-making army CAPTURES THE BEAST AND FALSE PROPHET... and casts them both: "...ALIVE into a Lake of Fire burning with brimstone." (Rev.19:20)

Notice, once again... "the Antichrist" is not taken... because there is no biblical account that mentions any such end time world leader called "the Antichrist."

"The Antichrist" is a fictitious character created from the imaginations of men, about whom they have established entire latter day religious doctrines... and written bestselling books. And the world has accepted "the Antichrist" as a real person.

And the world remains clueless that "two men" are coming -- not "one."

Biblically speaking... the Beast and the False Prophet will be given their power by Satan the Devil when the global conditions bring about the unprecedented distress Jesus mentions... and the onset of the Great Tribulation comes on the world.

We don't know for sure when that will be... although the present economically "unsustainable" situation in the world leads one to believe that it can't be too far off.

The Beast and False Prophet will rise to power when it all collapses around us. Satan knows who they are... we don't.
