Never. Neither company has any desire to merge the online gaming and it would be impractical as the game systems and games are not compatible. Neither PS3 or Xbox is a company that could merge as they are products for Microsoft and Sony

For the two services to merge, the two companies would have to merge, and no one wants that. (loss of competition...monopoly.) -this question needs a correction.. Live is NOT better than Psn.. in any way.. and Psn doesn't have dedicated servers.. I don't know where that came from..
