Budgies living in captivity may reproduce at any time of the year, if they are living in the same cage. Make sure to place a nesting box inside the cage, and DO NOT touch the eggs once they are laid. Parakeet eggs have a waxy coat on the shells which protects the chick from parasites.

you of corse need a famale and a male budgie. if they fall in love they'll most likely start mating. You can tell when budgies like each other when they sing to each other ( i think the male is suppose to sing to the female). You can also tell when they clean each others head or when you see their beaks open and their tounges touching. (i would know, my budgies do it alot!)

your budgie wont star breeding until it is about 1 year of age. if your budgies aren't breeding, don't worry, they might not be ready or mature. when they are kissing and preening each other, then they are ready.

Most likely baby budgies aren't going to have babies. They're too young to lay an egg. But adults can! They probably will lay eggs when they're around a year old. But you have to buy a nestbox in order for them to do so. Once two budgies mate, they will begin to spend more time with each other. Also, they will also be doing a 'Mating dance.' A mating dance is showing that the budgies are mating. But sometimes the mating dance fails, so they don't mate afterwards.

Hope this helps:)

I have 4 budgies and I was wondering if I should put the 2 mating budgies in a cage alone so that the other two won't bother the hen while she is nesting. Or is it better that the other 2 are there?

It depends on the behavior of your budgies. If they are aggressive or like to stick around by the 2 mating budgies, I would suggest separate them because the female won't be comfortable with the distraction of the other 2 budgies. However, if the other 2 rarely come by the 2 mating budgies or completely ignore them, I suggest keep the two there.

Do both genders of budgies have to be the same age?
