boss
In order to be a good Boss, you will need to know the company and the employees working for you. A good Boss is far and understanding. He or she is tough when needed and fair as well.
People who talk with customers are special people because the customer is #1. I'm sure if you tell your boss that you are going to be a little late because you are working on a customer issue and have to respond by 12:10, that he will understand. Just make sure you keep your phone conversation short. Say what you have to say and then if they want more, say you have to leave the phone for an hour and will call him back afterwards. If the boss doesn't understand, then call back the customer and say you have found it will take longer than you thought and will call him back in an hour.
If a customer has a complaint you should act with sympathy and politeness. Make sure you apologise and make the customer feel valued, tell him/her that you will tell your boss to make sure the problem is solved or if you can solve the problem then do so. Ask your boss for more advice though
a boss who is very friendly and a boss who will not bite your head off for being a few minutes late
