any wireless modem
No. Your computer would connect directly to the cable modem via an ethernet cable.
Yes you can because the modem router has a modem built in. There are different types of modem routers that suit different needs. If you are only going to be surfing the web you will need a "N" modem router, if you are going to be sharing files then you will need a "N+" modem router and if you are going to be gaming e.g. connecting to a Xbox 360 or PlayStaion 3 you will need a "N+N" modem router, I would personally recommend Belkin modem routers. Hope you find this useful!
You will need to go into the settings of the modem. From there you can determine which sites you would like to block.
You do not need a dial-up modem. However, you will need to either purchase or rent a DSL modem, which works differently from a dial-up modem, and is usually outside the computer.

There are several places one can find out their modem speed. The best place to go when need to test modem speed would be the Speedtest website. It is easy to use and no downloads.
if your modem has wireless capblility then you don't need a router.
"Buying a modem 3G would only be good if your work online requires it. A lot of people tend to over buy things that they do not need. This is a powerful modem, and if you do not need it, you should not buy it, as it is just a waste of money."
if it is a dialup modem there are some free dial up internet providers but for a cable/dsl modem this is not possible as you would need a isp to provision the modem on their network
You will need to buy a new modem that is designed for your DSL modem. This is due to the fact that the modem is designed to use the dsl signal opposed to the cable modem.
