If you're asking about the military in USA, there is no draft, thus there is no answer to your question.
If there were still a draft, the draft notice will give you a specific date, time and place for reporting. The length of time will vary depending upon the regulations governing the draft at that time. A draftee could not be expected to comply with a draft notice unless given this information and there is no time that is generic to all possible future drafts.
Added: The law requires those 18 to 25 years of age to REGISTER for the Selective Service. See below link:
Normally right after AIT which immediately follows basic training; 16 weeks, unless granted a leave in between; this pertains to the Viet war and the 20th century.
Treaty of Versailles
Americans were drafted into the Vietnam War in 1965.
Drafted.
They wanted to protest being drafted to a war they did not want to got to and according to them an unjust war. Since the United States army then and now does not allow soilders to grow their hair long.
I am pretty sure you can't be drafted, unless the country is in some major war like WWII and there are no reserves left. During WWII and the Vietnam War men were drafted into the Marine Corps as well as the Army so - yes - some registered with Selective Serviece CAN be drafted into the Marine Corps. As a practical matter, it has only happened during "major war" such as that alluded to by the first person who answered this question. If my sources are correct, most of the Marines during WWII were drafte, 16,000 men were drafted into the Marines during the Korean War and 42,633 drafted into the Marines, during the Vietnam War. No one has been drafted since the Vietnam War, but the possibility still exists.
they would take you to court and you would have to prove that you are really against the war.

Answer:It depends on what you're being drafted to. For example, if you're being drafted to go to war, then the military, or army, will send you a letter, or come to your home, and take you to war. For example, in the Civil War, there were many men drafted, most of them 19 years of age or older.

Drafted or draft induced volunteers.
Both. In the beginning they enlisted (volunteered). When the reality of war struck them (the horrors of war); they had to be forced to fight (drafted).
The policies of substitution and commutation were controversial practices that allowed drafted citizens to opt out of service by either furnishing a suitable substitute to take the place of the drafted, or paying $300.
