- No, you should not be sloppy in appearance or have bad manners when you just started to go out with a new girlfriend. In fact, you shouldn't be sloppy hygienically; how you dress or having good manners at any time when out in publice because that tells people what type of character you are such as you have high self esteem and confidence. If in doubt ask yourself if you would like to see your girlfriend on the sloppy side. Both people in the relationship are representing each other and they want to be proud of being seen with that person as well as introducing them to family and friends and proud to do so.
