Slight bleeding is common during early pregnancy. If the bleeding becomes very heavy or you experience abdominal cramping then this is a sign of a miscarriage. See your doctor for confirmation of the pregnancy via a blood test.

Althought I haven't had a miscarriage I am almost 100% positive that no, just because you are bleeding doesn't necessarily and probably DOESN'T mean you are having or have had a miscarriage. My best friends mom had a regular period fer the first 3 months or so that she was pregnant with her and had a healthy baby at full term and that's why they don't worry about bleeding by itself. Other symptoms that will be present during a miscarriage are: pain in the lower back and/or abdomin(the same area as when you have menstrual cramps) that may range in severity, length, and frequency, the passing of tissue/clots ranging in size(from what I understand they are usually around egg sized) and are either a brownish white or a dark red/brown 'sac-like' mass of tissue or blood, for those who have sypmtoms of pregnancy such a nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness or any other sypmtoms you may have been experiencing will decrease or stop completely. If you don't have any of these other sypmtoms, you didn't have a miscarriage. The bleeding itself could be a sign that you are at risk for one so don't completely brush it off if it gets worse or reoccurs. I'm not a doctor and haven't had a miscarriage so PLEASE don't let this be your only 'consultation' so to speak. If you are still worried or something else is different about you please call the doctor and ask them. Hope this helps!!

No, bleeding or having a period during pregnancy does not mean you have miscarried.

Bleeding during pregnancy, mostly early pregnancy, are actually very common. As a matter of fact, it isn't technically a period.

This bleeding is known as Breakthrough Bleeding, and it looks a lot like a period. Breakthrough Bleeding happens when the hormones that control your menstruation cycle break through the pregnancy hormones.

Bleeding can also occur as the fertilised egg naturally implants itself into the wall of your uterus. This happens around the time your period is due and, again, looks like a period, even though it isn't.

Don't worry. It's very natural for a woman to be alarmed when they have spotting or bleeding during pregnancy. But it is all very natural.

If you are really concerned, have a chat to your doctor or midwife.

Good luck and enjoy the pregnancy while it lasts.

Not necessarily. It's possible to have your menstruation and still be pregnant. The best thing to do is go to the doctor for a pregnancy test to be sure.
