A "Carrier bearing" is only used on a "split driveshaft" vehicle; such as a truck or long wheel based car. Front wheel drive cars, such as the cavalier (that this question is categorized under) are CV joints (Constant velocity joints). When rebuilding any CV it is almost required to rebuild both of the joints on the axle; it would be silly to go that far in the repair and not do them both.
Somebody is probably pulling your leg, unless you have a GM two-speed Powerglide transmission. In which case you should take it to a professional transmission technician
Your local auto parts store should be able to help you with that.
Not all Dakotas have a carrierbearing. Those that do use a two piece drive shaft, which goes from the rear of the transmission to the front of the differential (rear axle) the carrier bearing is used to support the two piece driveshaft at the point where the front and rear sections join., and is bolted to a frame member. It is easy to tell if your truck has one. Just crawl under and look at the drive shaft. if it is one piece going from the transmission to the rear end you don't have one. if you do, it will be located midway between those two points and should be quite obvious.
The transmission fluid should be change every 30,000 miles
Should be a drain plug at bottom of transmission Should be a fill plug at side of transmission - fill to this level
You should change your automatic transmission fluid in Toyota gearbox at least after every 30,000 miles.
I have a 2001 325ci BMW with 150,000 miles. When should I check or change the transmission fluid?
when should transmission fluid be changed in a 2006 kia spectra
Should be a drain plug in the bottom of transmission Should be a fill-check plug in the side of transmission
You should change it every 75,000 miles.
typically it is done around 100,000 miles. If it doesn't have a sealed transmission (which the metro doesnt) you should change the fluid.
70,000 miles
