The Egyptian god Anubis would take the deceased's heart and weigh it against "The Feather of Truth". If they were the same weight (or the heart was lighter), the deceased would be allowed to move on to the afterlife. If the feather was lighter then the deceased was sent to what the Egyptians believed was the "underworld".
The heart. They thought you needed this to get into the afterlife - the gods would weigh it against the feather of truth. If the result was good, then you'd get in; if it was bad, your heart would be devoured and you would be restless for eternity...

The scale would balance a feather against your heart -- the point was to have your emotions (which are metaphorically centred around the heart) be light and positive. Negative emotions, such as anger or hatred, would weigh down the heart and thus make it heavier than the feather. Should the scale determine such you were then barred from entry into the afterlife.
Anubis would weigh the heart of the deceased with the feather of Ma'at; if the deceased was wicked Ammit would devour him or her; if the heart balanced with the feather Osiris pronounced judgement and the deceased would be allowed to go to Aaru; Anubis would journey with them there.
Well to simply phrase it, weigh 1 feather and simply times is by one million? also, it depends what type of feather.. it you have varying kinds, you would need to establish an average feather weight before multiplying. to do this simply get 1 of each feather, weigh them, add up the weights and divide by the number of feathers.
