It won't normally kill you.
Many people have tried drinking hand sanitiser because it contains alcohol.
However what these uneducated dimwits fail to understand, is that there is a difference between medical alcohol and drinking alcohol.
Medical alcohol, which is used in sanitiser, is used by doctors to kill bacteria in medical settings.
Drinking hand sanitiser will cause
- Serious stomach upsets
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea
- Burning throat.
Sometimes these can be severe enough to be hospitalised.
(And probably fined by law enforcement for being a total idiot, endangering your safety and wasting time that they'd rather spend on serious emergencies).
Hand sanitiser also contains a chemical called isopropanol, which causes blindness if you get too much in your system.
Excessive and/or regular consumption of hand sanitiser, or similar products, will slowly poison your body and bloodstream causing frequent pain to you stomach, liver, kidney and heart. It is a very slow and painful way to go.
There is no exact timeline on how long it will take to die, because it depends on how much the person has consumed, the strength of the person's body, the speed of their metabolism and so on.
In summary - only people lacking in education swallow medical alcohol products.
