This happens because the blood suddenly rushes to your brain. It can cause your vision to go dark with stars for a few seconds as well as being dizzy. Its nothing to worry about, unless it last longer then twenty to thirty seconds.

∙ 9y agoWhen you stand for a long time, the leg muscles do not contract to compress the veins for upward movement of the blood. This leads to pooling of blood in the leg veins as the blood fails to ascend against gravity. The heart and brain do not receive enough blood and are less oxygenated and receive fewer nutrients.

∙ 12y agoWhen you are sitting or lying your blood pressure is only adequate enough to keep the blood pumping to your body in that position. When you stand up your heart does not get as large of a return of blood and so its output decreases temporarily. This causes a decrease in blood flow to the brain and so you feel dizzy and faint. This is quickly corrected upon standing though.
