Use lacquer thinner on a rough rag. If necessary remove hardware from the door.
Usually I have found that the problem is not that it is broken, it is that the trolley has come loose from it's connection to the door. Most of the newer doors you will have to remove an upper piece of molding to access the door hardware. Use some wood shims to support the weight of the door and you may be lucky enough to be able to adjust the existing hardware to make it work again. If the hardware is broken then you will have to remove the door, study the track and see if you can reach enough of the screws to loosen the track; by lowering the door and track away from its mounting you maybe able to repair the problem hardware... otherwise the door will have to be removed for replacement hardware.
