Use lacquer thinner on a rough rag. If necessary remove hardware from the door.
With a quality paint stripper, follow the directions on the container.
If you can take the hardware off the door and the door right off the frame. If you can't then use masking tape and tape all the hardware. Door knobs can be taken right off (2 screws on each side.) If there is existing paint on the door and it looks OK and is the same type of paint you are planning on using (oil on oil or latex on latex ... water based paint) then you don't need to sand. If the door is in bad shape with a few little holes, heavy scratches, etc., then it's best to give the door a good sanding first and then be sure you wash off the dust with soapy water and it's dry if you are using oil based paint (you don't have to worry about the door being damp if you are using latex paint.) Use thinner for that paint.
Compund W might do the trick. But do NOT use a lot, as it would also remove the vehicle's paint finish. I had a scrape on my driver door and I used some Compound W on it. Now, you have to get about an inch from the door to tell there was a scrape there.
heat gun,or paint remover...the first is chemical free

Hardware is installed after paint. Hardware is a personal preference. Sold individually so the door company does not have to stock so many different combinations. Your salesman will assist you in matching hardware with your new door purchase.
If it has etched the glass, there is no way to remove it.
Just wipe it with the thinner for that paint.
Take the door outside and use a chemical stripper.

To fix the door handle of a VT Commodore, remove the hardware from the door and loosen the knob. Remove the turn post and tighten all mechanical parts.
I use Melaleuca products and the Solumel works tremedously to get pain out of carpet. I have even used it as a paint stripper for some old door hardware that I needed to remove paint off of by submerging the pieces in the Solumel. To remove paint out of carpet, I took a cloth soaked with Solumel and let it sit on the spot until it had softened the dried paint to where I could remove it. You will have to make sure to keep the cloth wet while doing this; a sponge soaked in it may work too. I hope this helps you as it did me; I had to remove the dried paint from a brand new carpet that had just been laid!
first get a bucket filled with melted peanut butter and baking soda. Then proceed to wipe away paint. Aerosols can be used to remove paints from your garage doors. These are very effective!
Usually I have found that the problem is not that it is broken, it is that the trolley has come loose from it's connection to the door. Most of the newer doors you will have to remove an upper piece of molding to access the door hardware. Use some wood shims to support the weight of the door and you may be lucky enough to be able to adjust the existing hardware to make it work again. If the hardware is broken then you will have to remove the door, study the track and see if you can reach enough of the screws to loosen the track; by lowering the door and track away from its mounting you maybe able to repair the problem hardware... otherwise the door will have to be removed for replacement hardware.
