That's a hard place to be in. Getting over someone is hard enough. When they suddenly realize that you don't like them and take it personally, there's a hurt on both sides. They should not hate you because you stopped liking them. They'll probably get over it. Just give them some space and let the relationship heal with time. Things always seem so much bigger than they really are in the heat of the moment. They will cool off after a while and realize that who you like is your decision. They can be upset, sure, but they have not right to hate you over something like that.
