This happened to me in a 95 Toyota Tercel and the cause was for the most part dirty battery connections, when the electrical load was raised the alternator could not immediately keep up and required a moment to adjust, but with a bad battery connection (probably the Positive in my case) it couldn't temporarily draw enough power from the battery to still fire the spark plugs hence the immediate stall.
Turn on your headlights and hazard lights, call 911
This is usually caused by a bad seat safety switch.
Because Mitsubishi Eclipse 1996 doesn't have automatic headlights.
when kick down the gas pedal to accelerate, the car downshift but then stalls and then engine stays rough until i turn off the engine and restart it then the engine runs normal again till the next kick down.
Turn off engine. Depress Emergency Brake. Turn on engine. The lights will not turn on until the E-Brake is released. Get in the habit of setting the E-Brake and you will have less of an issue with the auto headlights. I don't think there is an easy way to bypass the auto headlights entirely. The headlight switch is essentially, "just for show."
An electrical short when you turn your headlights on. Check the fuses and make sure you have the correct fuse for the headlamps. Check all wiring to the headlamps, check for corrosion of the cabling or melting of the insulation.
There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.
pull the headlight fuse
maybe its a sens or relay connected with ac and the engine blower
In this order only. Turn engine off. Depress parking brake. Turn engine on. Lights will turn off. To turn lights back on relase parking brake.
When you turn on the headlights of any car it causes a load (or horsepower drag) on the engine. Your car has an idle problem and the load on the alternator simply exacerbates it.
There are a couple of different times when you'd turn off your headlights. You'd turn off your headlights when the car is off for example.
