When you go to the toilet you should wash your hands#
It mostly depends on the type of lab. If you're leaving a science experimental lab that could involve chemicals, the chemicals could be on your hands and erode your skin and nails and even transfer to other parts of you. If its a hospital lab there could be feces and bacteria all over the place and they could somehow get int your body and give you some kind of illness. If its an innocent lab with no chemicals, not much should happen but there are bacteria everywhere so I would wash my hands regularly anyway.
A. Clean up B. Wash hands C. Unplug anything that was plugged in D. Put equipment away
If you forget to heat fix your slide your bacterial sample will be lost with the next wash step. So if you are doing a Gram stain when you add the crystal violet the liquid will mix with the bacteria, and when you wash later in the protocol the bacteria will wash away with the stains.

When you go to the toilet you should wash your hands#
because it will wash all bacteria off your hands for when you eat food and do anything
Your hands get bacteria (germs) on them from touching things. If you don't wash your hands, then you touch your mouth or you pick up food with your hands and eat the food, that bacteria can then get in your mouth, and some of it can be bad enough to make you very sick. There are some germs that you can have on your hands that can give you diarrhea, make you vomit, and just generally make you feel really lousy. Other types of bacteria can actually kill you. Many years ago, like in the 1500s and 1600s, doctors used to operate on people without washing their hands first. As a result, many of their patients died. Now that all doctors wash their hands before doing surgery, there is a much higher survival rate.
Bacteria is everywhere just wash your hands and it goes down the drian
You should always wash your hands after you have been to the toilet and before eating meals. If you feel that you have touched a bacteria infested surface, it is always good to wash your hands.
What happens when you don't wash your hands? Any germs or bacteria what are on your hands can be transferred to food that have you have prepared and any surfaces that you have touched. If anyone has the misfortune to eat that food or touch those surfaces they could then pick up your germs and bacteria and become infected/ill. If you wash your hands correctly, this will reduce the chance of spreading infectious bacteria.
There are arguments for, and arguments against washing with an antibacterial. One group says that it kills all the germs on your hands, which must be good. The other group says that it doesn't kill all the bacteria, and that by washing, a person cannot kill all the bacteria, so those bacteria that survive make more bacteria like themselves that are very resistant to the antibacterial. The point is to wash off bacteria with hand soap, I think, so they aren't as easily transported to your nose or eyes, which are very susceptible to infection.
Always wash your hands and DO NOT USE HAND SANITISERS because it kills all the GOOD bacteria from your hands.
The exact number of bacteria living on an individuals skin can vary widely due to hygiene and several other factors. It is, however, estimated that there are between 500 and 1000 species of bacteria that commonly inhabit human skin. Recent studies have identified at least 182 species, see the related links below for more information.
