to fix the everlasting loading screen on the R4 DS, get an earlier version of the software. I found a file called English-1.12 which when loaded fixes the loading problem.

You either have the wrong firmware or no firmware installed. If your R4 has any extra labels like R4Ultra, or R4Pro, etc. then you'll have to check the packaging for a website. If it's the original R4, go to www.r4ds.cn. Go to the website, download the latest firmware, and extract it to the root of your MicroSD card.
