No other city apart from Canberra has ever been the capital.Some believe Melbourne was the capital until Canberra was built, but it was never the capital either. It was only ever the city where the Federal Parliament met, as they had no other suitable venue until construction of the first Parliament House in Canberra was completed, in 1927.
