33 miners were trapped in the San Jose gold mine and so far 21 have been rescued.
It took 69 days to rescue all 33 miners from the San Jose mine in Chile in 2010. The miners were trapped underground following a cave-in on August 5th and were eventually brought to the surface on October 13th.

After 70 days underground, the 33 miners trapped (32 Chileans and 1 Bolivian) were finally rescued alive and well on October 13, 2010.
All 33 have now been rescued.
They were initially trapped on August 5, 2010 when the mine they were working in experienced a serious cave-in. For 17 days no one knew if they were even alive. Rescue workers drilled holes in an attempt to find survivors, and were thrilled to receive a note indicating that all 33 men were fine. The men were rescued on October 13, 2010, after 69 days underground.
