Nick was discovered when he was singing in a hair salon. He was told to audition at a record label and did. He was signed, and then when they found out Nick had brothers, all three of them were signed. Frankie was not born yet.

∙ 12y agoOriginally, It was Nick who got the recognition. He was at a Barber Shop when someone heard him singing, and contacted Columbia Records. He made a solo album, then wrote a song with Joe and Kevin. They asked if they could perform it together, and the record company saw their potential. That is when they became the Jonas Brothers. After their first album, they were dropped by Columbia records, and went on to Hollywood records.

∙ 14y agoNick participated in various plays such as 'Les Miserables' and 'Peter Pan' and someone with a record company signed Nick to record a christian album, titled 'Nicholas Jonas'. But the guy found out that his brothers also sang and played a major part in writing the songs, so he dropped Nick and signed them all together, so 'Nicholas Jonas' was never released, only an album promo. That project then evolved into 'It's About Time' with the hit single 'Mandy' which had 3 Music Videos and thousands of hours of radio air-time. They auditioned for a part on 'That's So Raven' on Disney Channel, and ended up being signed to Hollywood Records (disney's record label) then third graders all over the world wittnessed their rise and fall of fame.

And then the Jonas Brothers made a song together called ''Please Be Mine'' and the record-label people heard it and signed the Jonas Brothers {Nick, Joe, and Kevin} for there own CD to be released.
