At the end of last summer I decided to get a new motorcycle. I have been a long time supporter of both Honda and Yamaha and have owned equal amounts of both bikes. Since I have a Honda dealer right down the street from me I tried out a Honda Aero and a Shadow 1100. I liked the looks and the feel of the Aero when I sat on it. My brother-in-law went along since he has been a big Goldwing rider for years. I took the bikes for a ride. Most of this is about the Aero. It seemed comfortable enough so I took it by my house for my wife to look at and give me a passengers opinion. She was okay with it. Still no cut and dry "I love it". Then I got off the bike. Big mistake. The Aero, brother to the ACE were both design after the Harley's. Looks were great but like a Harley vibration was terrible. I had only been on it for about 15 minutes and my arms and feet just tingled from the vibration. My wife said the same thing. I let my brother-in-law ride it, thinking it might just be me. Nope, he hated it. He suggested looking at a V-Star. I did. It is the nicest bike I have ever owned. I bought the Classic 1100 model. It rides smooth, it has double front brakes for better stopping and it is powerful enough to keep up with the Goldwings. It does have a few short falls. It could have a better seat but it was still better than the Hondas and it could use a 6th hyway gear but it handles the speeds okay. By far I felt the V-Star was a much better bike. Oh yes, I did try the Honda Shadow and didn't care for that either. I own a VStar 1100 custom (the only Air cooled 45 deg. V-TWIN made by the Japanese). It offers the best sound the best power and the best ride. Hands Down. If you dont want to feel the motor then buy a moped, I suppose.
