Acme rods were trade rods made for and sold by Schoverling, Daly, & Gales of NY. They were made by Charles Wheeler, of Farmington, ME from the early 1880's to the early 1890's.
Sabatti made Charles Daly Superior II Hunter O/U According to the Service Department at Charles Daly / KBI, Sabatti made O/U's for them in the late 90's to 2005. One of the model lines they made for them was the Superior O/U's including the Superior II Hunter O/U. Some of the older articles I have read and people I've contacted that own this line of Charles Daly's believe they are as good as or better than the Japanese made Miroku Charles Daly shotguns of the 60's and 70's. Sabatti may have also manufactured their Empire line of O/U's, but I am not totally sure of that. Sabatti is one of the oldest, in continuous business as an arms manufacturer since 1674, and best Italian shotgun makers that currently manufactures Remington's Premier O/U shotguns and the Browning Medalist. I have read articles and reviews from European sources that state that Sabatti's own line of shotguns are as good as or better than Beretta and Browning. They also do custom work for some of the best shotgun manufacturers in the world including Perazzi. Hope this helps, Dennis

MID TO LATE 60'S - I HAVE ONE WITH S/N 18xx FROM 1967
Charles Daly shotguns were made by several of the best European and American arms makers from around 1875 to the mid-late 1930's by Schoverling, Daly & Gates. These were some of the finest shotguns of the time and can sell for several thousand dollars. In the 1960's and 70's, they were produced by Miroku Company in Japan. These are becoming collectible and can retail for $1,500-$3,000 in top condition. Current Daly O/U shotguns are manufactured in Italy and are excellent firearms. There are forty different models listed in the Blue Book. A Field grade in 60% condition, lists at about $200, but a Diamond Regent GTX EDL Hunter in 100% is $23,000. If your gun has fancy wood, fine engraving and/or precious metal inlays, you should take it to an expert for a written appraisal. what is the Charles daly worth over and under serial number152978

Your Charles Daly shotgun is valued at between 270-495 dollars for a shotgun showing between 60%-90% of it,s original finish on the wood and metal and a good set of bores.
I recently purchased a used 12 ga Charles Daly Superior Skeet shotgun from Gander Mountain. It is in very good (90%) condition. I paid $600 US for it and I consider this to be a fair price for this particular gun. As a national chain sporting goods store, Gander Mountain uses fair market value to retail all of it's gun offerings, both new and used. This particular shotgun would have sold for about $300 new in 1965 when Charles Daly started to import these Japanese guns which closely mimic the Browning Citori (also made by BC Miroku). Citoris were also much less expensive (although considerably more expensive than the look-a-like Daly)in the 1960's and have also gained in value on the used gun market as has the Daly.
