What is the Value of Charles Daly shotgun?

To answer the question, need more info. Proof marks. dimensions etc

Some years ago I bought a Charles Daly shotgun. In as found condition,it is a fairly old gun-Damascus bbls, twin hammers, very nice wood, some engraving, some rust but relatively clean bores. It has a "button" that stands up to the rear of the breech that you press to open the breech. 12Ga.,it appears to be a gun that cost the original buyer some pretty good money. Much less well finished shotguns were likely available at the time to less particular buyers. I don't have the gun here at the present time so I can't give dimensions, etc. In having bought numerous objects that day, I didn't have to pay a great deal for this gun, which was a part of what I bought. The stock had been fractured years ealier and repaired with no losses. Guessing, this gun refurbished might have a value of $500-$750.

Daly guns our of many makers and alot of difference in value. A Daly gun made by the great Lindner in a top grade can bring $25,000 or more but the current Turkey guns may only bring a couple of hundred. The ole Daly guns were mostly made in Germany and these are the guns that bring real money. The Daly name was sold and in the sixties Daly guns were imported from Japan and some from Italy. The Japan guns were made by Miroku the same company that make the Browning Citori and the older BSS. Its these Daly's that are undervalued and sell in the $500. to $1,000. dollor range. The Daly name then went to some Spanish makers and now Turkey with these last two makers taking big - hits on resale.

I have been collecting Pre-War Charles Daly's for many years. I specialize in the higher grade gun like the Charles Daly Diamond grade and the Charles Daly Regent Diamond grades. Plus Drillings and any other special order guns.

Feel free to call me to discuss your specific gun. Oct 2012

Who made Charles Daly 10 gauge percussion double barrel shotguns?

You will need to do a detailed inspection. Schoverling & Daly imported shotguns under the Charles Daly name from makers in Prussia (like Schiller and Lindner), Germany (like Heym and Sauer), J&W Tolley of England, Newmann of Belgium, and even LeFever Arms of New York. If you do not know how to disassemble your gun to examine (and reassemble, of course), take it to a reputable gunsmith. The maker's marks and European proofs are there somewhere. The firm of Shoverling and Daly came into being in 1874. I really think that there qouls be few percussion guns sold by Daly. They prided themselves on selling the very best and latest. With this in mind, they were concentrating on breech actioned shotguns. To my knowledge they were buying guns from England and Belgiaum at their beginning. This has to be a pinned gun. Take the forend off and remove the barrels. Look at the proofmarks to see if it be English or Belgian. If German or any of the German States, there will be no proof marks. Same for US production. Hope this is helpful. Best, John

Would a 20 gauge Charles Daly semi-automatic be a good shotgun for a 120 lb woman?

mabye, id recomend a single shot .410 or an over under 28 gauge

greatwhite1974 answers : YES ! a 20 guage auto would be excellent for you. The gas operation lowers the recoil to a very mild kick. My 11 year old shoots a 12 Guage Daly Auto and loves it. A 20 Guage single shot gives you the full felt recoil of the round.

What is the value of a Charles Daly over and under 12 ga SN76500?

Charles Daly shotguns were made by several of the best European and American arms makers from around 1875 to the mid-late 1930's by Schoverling, Daly & Gates. These were some of the finest shotguns of the time and can sell for several thousand dollars. In the 1960's and 70's, they were produced by Miroku Company in Japan. These are becoming collectible and can retail for $1,500-$3,000 in top condition. Current Daly O/U shotguns are manufactured in Italy and are excellent firearms. There are forty different models listed in the Blue Book. A Field grade in 60% condition, lists at about $200, but a Diamond Regent GTX EDL Hunter in 100% is $23,000. If your gun has fancy wood, fine engraving and/or precious metal inlays, you should take it to an expert for a written appraisal. what is the Charles daly worth over and under serial number152978

Where can you get replacement stocks for Charles Daly firearms?

In the Philippines. you can order any part of Charles Daly in the Philippines. because Charles Daly is manufactured by ARMS CORPORATION ( ARMSCOR )

Parts for every firearm that I've ever owned, including stocks, are usually carried in stock by the manufacturer. That would be the first place I would try, at least as long as the gun is still being manufactured, or recently discontinued. In the manual for the last Ruger long gun I bought, a list of parts and prices was included in the owner's manual.

100s of Original Miroku manufactured Charles Daly Wood Stocks & Forearms are available at: B&C Gunsmithing - bncgunsupplies@npgcable.com. There are over 10,000 Charles Daly / Miroku parts (all kinds) in stock.

These have been out of manufacture for more than 40 years and when Sloan Sports quit the importation of these guns, their entire spare parts stock was sold to Garfield Guns of Garfield New Jersey. When Garfield Guns closed their doors several years ago, their entire stock of spare parts was sold to B&C Gunsmithing of Lake Havasu City AZ.

Modern Charles Daly guns were manufactured in Turkey and imported by KBI Inc.. Charles Daly (KBI) and ARMSCOR do not have spare parts for Miroku manufactured Charles Daly guns.

Update: KBI has closed its doors, leaving owners of the newest Charles Daly guns "high and dry". Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a good source for these parts...

What is the price of a Charles Daly shotgun over and under 12 ga serial number is 176500?

The CD shotgun is a fine quality o/u. I have had two over the years. The early guns had v- springs for main springs and the newer ones hadcoils. If your gun has v-springs in is VERY important to use snap capsto relieve the tenson during storage. Without seeing the gun is would beimpossable to give you a value, but I would say from 450 to 600 would beclose.

How do you remove the action from a Baikal superimposed shotgun?

Remove the two screws from the recoil pad. There will be a long hole leading to a screw head that attaches the stock to the receiver. Turn the screw counterclockwise until loose. The receiver should slip easily apart. Simply reverse pproceedure to reattach. You'll need a standard long shank screwdriver for the stock/receiver screw and a Phillips for the recoil pad.

The receiver is completely modular and nothing will "fall apart" after the two parts are separated...

Which is better for skeet shooting a Baikal IZH27 or Charles Daly Field Hunter?

Go with the Baikal. The Daly is nice but for a day of skeet it's to light. It will kick hard and a lot.

Is a Baikal IZH27 or Charles Daly Field Hunter better for skeet shooting?

Go with the Baikal. The Daly is nice but for a day of skeet it's to light. It will kick hard and a lot.

Another point of view might be, what is better for driving on the open road, a truck or a sports car? A Baikal is reputed to be a functional, durable gun, and a good value for the dollar. The Charles Daly guns will have a finer fit and finish, and more or fancier features than the Baikal. A duck or a clay pigeon won't notice a difference at all. Your budget and your taste are the factors that determine which is better for you.

In my opinion it is a complete joke to compare a Baikal to a Charles Daily or any other high quality shotgun. In my opinion, ( after having experienced owning a couple of Baikals ) the difference is as great as the east is from the west. I had many problems with my Baikals. They both malfunctioned mechanically right out of the box. Ask a competent gunsmith to give you an objective evaluation of Baikal shotguns. Although I like an aesthetically appealing gun, function concerning firearms is paramount. They simply must function properly and dependably time after time. A double gun having a single trigger requires a very sophisticated mechanism and with it a high cost as compared to other type actions. I have owned 5 cheapies - a cosmetically pretty little side by side made in Spain - it doubled, a O/U J.C. Higgins about 30 years ago - it doubled, a Fox 20 side by side (not too cheap) and it did not eject properly,a O/U Baikal - more malfunctions than I care to go into, A Baikal side by side 12 - the design caused the trigger not to work on the second barrel - the gunsmith told me it was just cheap bad design. My Browning never malfunctions - and I am confident it won't in the future. My SKB 20 ga. O/U functions flawlessly. One other thing. When we look at guns we have to remind ourselves what we really want in a gun. Personally, I like a gun with a traditional look not a Rambo military look. I like a gun to look and "feel " sleek. When I bought the Baikal O/U, I was so single track minded to buy an inexpensive double, I forgot about the qualities I wanted. It was like pointing a fence post and the balance also resembled a club. The Russians have proved that they can make fine quality guns - but not Baikal. ( personal opinion and that of my gunsmith)

A guy on another web site said he had seen more than one Baikal that could not even be assembled right out of the box. How's that for quality control?

I can not speak for the "Daly" but own a IZH27 among my many Russian weapons. I have shot at least a dozen Russian shotguns. Those who owned them and my self have never had a problem one. Say what you will about fit and finish...mine is fine for what I use it for...they shoot just as well as anything else out there. 98% of it is up to you anyway. Over 1000 rounds through my IZH27 in the last 8 months with no problem. My first year shooting clays and I am very competitive with the group of old timers I shoot with. More often than not I am in the top 3 high scorers out of 12 or more shooters. Most of these guys are using $1500-$3000 dollar guns. Baikal has earned respect at the 3 ranges I shoot at. For skeet, I'd recommend the 26" barrel vs the 28". If you plan on participating in other clay sports or using it in the field, stick with the 28". Also, just from a cleaning stand point, I'd opt not to get the ported version again...although the ports do lessen felt recoil.

ANSWERFirst off, are you comparing two different types of shotguns? Do you mean the Charles Daly Field Hunter semi auto shotgun? If so, the semi-auto Charles Daly's aren't of the same quality as the Charles Daly double guns. They aren't even made in the same country! I have seen lots of Charles Daly semi's and pumps for sale very cheaply in LIKE NEW condition! ASk why? Buyers are very disappointed! Charles Daly USED to be a good quality firearm. They outsource everything now. Even their hanguns are made by several different manufacturers in different countries. Quality countrol is all over the place. I believe their double guns are made in SPAIN now, but semi's are made in Turkey. The Turks make a VERY good double gun, but semi's are suspect in quality. The Russian's have always made their guns strong and heavy! They never made a good looking gun as far as PRETTY goes, but traditionally they make guns that are hard to break!I want to question the one person's response about owning several Baikal's and never getting a good one, but you never have problems with your top end gun? I think you sound just like every other elitest shotgun owner out there! You never really owned a Baikal, but you know nobody will listen to your opinion unless you say you have owned one and had troubles with it If you had such bad luck, why on earth did you keep trying them? You sound like the elitest snob who cannot accept that Baikal owners got just as good of a gun functionality-wise as you did for less than $400!Go with the Baikal!!! Remington thinks they're good enough to make the same gun with their name on it! Spartan!!!

What is the value of a Charles Daly 10 gauge side by side twin trigger shotgun?

The 23rd edition of the Bluebook of Gun Values indicates the Field II Hunter model 10 gauge side by side is worth $635.00 at the 100% condition and 340 at the at the 90% condition. Ross Rossander If I may add to the answer it would be that value depends on who built the gun and when. Some of the more modern guns can be very cheap indeed but some of the older German guns can be worth thousands. We need much more info to give any real answer of value.

What is the value of a 12 gauge Charles Daly Superior Miroku?

I recently purchased a used 12 ga Charles Daly Superior Skeet shotgun from Gander Mountain. It is in very good (90%) condition. I paid $600 US for it and I consider this to be a fair price for this particular gun. As a national chain sporting goods store, Gander Mountain uses fair market value to retail all of it's gun offerings, both new and used. This particular shotgun would have sold for about $300 new in 1965 when Charles Daly started to import these Japanese guns which closely mimic the Browning Citori (also made by BC Miroku). Citoris were also much less expensive (although considerably more expensive than the look-a-like Daly)in the 1960's and have also gained in value on the used gun market as has the Daly.

What is the value of a Charles Daly double barrel shotgun?

That would depend on condition, barrel length, whether or not it was imported by KBI ( tells age ), and most importantly what guage it is. The smaller guages are worth more. I paid $600 for my Miroku BC Charles Daly Model 500 20 Guage in good to excellant condition and would have possibly paid twice that if he had asked for it. I will add that if its an older German gun the value can get up there. The more info the better the answer.

Is the Charles Daly Field Hunter 12 gauge ultralight a good choice for upland hunting?

Yes. My 20 Guage Miroku does well with dove and quail, squirrel, and rabbits. Just practice and make sure to pattern it with various ammo and shot sizes. I love no. 4's for squirrel and rabbit and no. 7 1/2's for birds but my shotgun prefers 5's and 8's as shooting paper has revealed to me.

What is the value of a bc my luck over and under 12 gauge serial 163380 It says my luck where others say miroku on the engraving. I was told there were a limited few with this engraving.?

I can't answer your question, but yesterday I saw a B C My Luck side by side 12 guage. I have never heard of this brand and I could not find any reference at all in print or internet. Let me add some info the MyLuck, Daly and Miroku are all about the same gun. Most MyLuck guns were sold over seas and brought home by servicemen. When Miroku started makeing the Citori and BSS for Browning the Daly sales stopped in the States. The eariler guns are under valued and most often have better hand engraveing and wood than the Browning guns with roll engraveing built to a price point.
