It depends on whether you are referring to comfort and service or safety. The safest place is typically in the rear of the plane and where there is a close exit. Still, it depends on the type of aircraft, and type of accident. If something goes wrong at 35,000 feet, (not typical) it's hard to think of anyplace that's going to be the safest. As far as comfort and service, usually the best seats are in first class, where the seats and personal space have more room, and you may have more individual attention. In addition, the seats are not over the wing so the view is usually better. But of course, your going to pay for that comfort and service. To me, its not worth the money unless it was an extremely long flight.
