Its not worth replacing the starter motor brushes on any car. By the time the brushes are worn, there is probably other wear and tear to the bearings, the commutator, and the windings. Better to just replace the starter. Same deal with the brushes in an alternator.
The 1997 Toyota starter can be found on the right hand side of the engine. The starter will be near the back of the engine, at the bottom.
Remove the positive battery cable from your 1997 Toyota Corolla battery. Tighten the starter with the retaining bolts. Attach the cables to the front of the starter. Reattach the positive cable to the battery.
Look at the bottom end of the engine
The starter for a1997 Camry is located on top of the transmission. It should be visible from the top and easy to remove.

Starter Solenoid? Its on the starter itself. Right side of engine. Connects to the transmission. Usually seen thru the right tire wheel well.
Remove it and bench test it or bring to auto parts store they can test it for you
Heavy corrosion will prevent enough power from getting to the starter to spin fast enough to start the engine.
