The duty of the executive branch is to carry out the laws. In other words, run all of the government not directly related to Congress nor to the Court system.

At the head is the president. Immediately below him are the 15 cabinet secretaries and a few other agency heads that report directly to the president.

  • Department of Commerce
  • Department of Homeland Security
  • Department of Agriculture
  • Department of Education
  • Department of Defense
  • Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • Department of Health and Human Services
  • Department of Labor
  • Department of State
  • Department of Energy
  • Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Department of Interior
  • Department of Treasury
  • Department of Transportation
  • The Attorney General

You can probably figure out from their names what these departments focus on doing.
