Not to assume anything...There are two primary fans on the typical vehicle: engine / radiator cooling fans and the heater blower fan.Both are covered in the "Related Questions" below.

The relays are numbered and there are no labels to explain which one is which. The numbers are not explained in the drivers manual. How do you figure out which number is for which relay?????
On a 1998 Mercury Tracer, the cooling fan relays are located in an engine compartment box. The compartment box should be labeled 'Cooling Fan 40 amp.'
The engine temperature sensor is located next to where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. The two relays are located on the right (passenger) side of the fan shroud. 99% of the time the reason the low speed fan is not running is due to the fan motor itself and not the relay(s).
