These were a hybrid offspring, the product of human women and materialized angels, the "sons of God." They were mean, nasty bullies of enormous size and strength. It was in part because of the violence brought about by the nephilim that God brought about the flood. All of these hybrid offspring were killed during the flood of the Noah's day and no longer exist today, but many believe the Greek and Roman gods were inspired by stories resulting from the existence of these offspring.
