The 2.4 Liter Mitsu engine is a hemi--the spark plugs are located in the center of the valve cover. If you pull one of the spark plug wires up and out, you will see that it has about a 5 inch extension that goes down to the plug. Then you can put a spark plug socket on a long extension and stick it down into the hole and remove the plug. It also has 2 "coils" that are in line on the wires, so it costs about $200 to replace the wires.

remove the black boot cover, using a deep socket remove the spark plug. all 4 are on top. it is very simple and only taked 10-15 minutes. the 2001 galant does not have spark plug wires like most cars. i replaced mine with PLAT 4+ plugs and cut my gas by 1 tank per week.
