Front or rear struts?
I would assume the rears as there are a number of folks searching for those mountings - in contrast no one seems to ever ask about the fronts.
Good coverage (okay, I'll take that pun) of the rear strut mountings in the "Related Question" below.
It's near the base of the strut on the inside
We need to know, car or wagon.
FRONT STRUT: Damper Shaft Nut >52 Ft-lbs, Strut Upper Mounting Nuts >24 Ft-lbs, Strut to Steering Knuckle Nuts >96 Ft-lbs; REAR STRUT: Damper Shaft Nut >55 Ft-lbs, Strut Upper Mounting Nuts >33 Ft-lbs, Strut to Rear Knuckle Nuts >89 Ft-lbs.....
Since the strut bearing is part of the strut-coil spring assembly, the whole thing will have to come out and be disassembled. See "Related Questions" below for extensive information on these procedures.
To change the rear trunk strut on a Porsche Boxster, start by safely securing the trunk in an open position. Use a flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry off the retaining clips that hold the strut in place. Once the clips are removed, disconnect the old strut by pulling it away from the mounting points. Finally, attach the new strut by pushing it onto the mounting points and securing it with the clips.
To remove the struts from the front of a 2002 Bravada, first, safely lift and support the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the wheel and brake components to access the strut assembly. Disconnect the strut from the steering knuckle using a socket wrench, and then remove the upper strut mounting bolts located in the engine bay. Finally, pull the strut assembly out from its mount and repeat for the opposite side.
You'll need a coil spring compressor. Jack up the rear end. Remove rear tire. Open the rear trunk - remove rubber cover / locate the "three" mounting bolts to the assemby. Remove lower mounting bolt on strut. Remove strut assembly -caution ... it's under a lot of pressure from the coil spring. Remove the OLD strut from the assembly. To replace the new strut, you'll need to compress the coil spring as much as possible. Re-assemble the strut to the mounting hardware. Push the "three bolt" assembly through the trunk mount and tighten. Re-attach the lower mounting bolt to the strut. Be advised "under a lot of pressure from the coil spring." Is a serious understatement. You need a special tool to compress this strut and attempting to disassemble strut without the tool locking it in could result in SERIOUS injury or even death.
Really easy, remove all the top bolts in engine compartment ,then disconnect bottom of strut. Now jack vehicle up and let the strut slide out.
most Lumina's have a fuel filter located on a mounting foreward of the right [drivers side] rear strut. It is a canister mounted on the chassis so you can not miss it.
To replace the rear strut on a 2002 Mercury Sable GS, first, safely lift and support the vehicle using jack stands. Remove the rear wheel, then detach the strut from the lower control arm and the top mount inside the trunk by removing the nuts. Install the new strut by reversing the removal process, ensuring all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, reattach the wheel and lower the vehicle, checking for proper alignment.
Under the hood on the driver's side close to the strut mounting under a plastic square cap marked, "fuel pump relay". Matt
If you mean front strut, yes, they are the same. Rear are different between wagon and sedan.
