There is a mark on the timing chain cover behind the harmonic balancer(behind the crank pulley). The harmonic balancer also has a slot cut in it so that you can line the crank up with the mark on the timing cover. The mark on the timing cover should sit at the 2 o'clock position or the 12 o'clock position. My 96 Chevy 305 is at the 2 o'clock position.

On the front of the timing chain cover, drivers side towards the top of the harmonic balancer.
I the Blazer will run then the timing can be checked with a timing light. If not, the there are timing marks on the timing gears that will have to be checked to see if the timing jumped.
The timing marks are on a tab adjacent to the harmonic balancer.
On your top and bottom pulleys ,you have timing marks,they should line up when time is correct.
That requires a timing light, you loosen a bolt on the distributor and turn it a little until the marks on the main pulley match a notch that you aim the timing light at.
There should be advance marks on the harmonic balancer, and timing marks on both timing chain gears.
