if you want to use the timing marks to lock the engine up then you have to turn the engine over until the camshaft pulley meet up with the hole in the head, the hole is about 8-10mm. stick a drill bit in the hole. then you lock the crank up by putting a 5mm drill bit in the flywheel, should be about lined up when you put your first drill bit in. might need a bit of a wiggle. mark where they pulleys are anyway just for satisfaction.
