How do you change the fan belts on a 1990 V6 LeBaron convertible?

It has a serpentine belt and you have a bolt in the front ( passenger side)of the block that releases the tension on the belt, the tensioner is NOT spring loaded, and remove the belt. Install the new one with the schematic on the fan shroud, If it isn't there draw one before removing the belt. Don't rely on memory. you cannot remember at least if you are old like me LOL

How do you change a fan belt on a 1986 Pontiac Fiero?

What fan belt? Fiero fans were up front while the engines were in back. You must mean the drive belt located in the engine compartment also known as the alternator belt. The adjusting bolt is located under a triangular plastic cap on top of the right wheel housing. Remove this cap and you will see the bolt down inside. It is not easy to get at and a long ratcheting type of wrench is best to use here. (not sure of the size, maybe someone else might know) loosen the bolt and slide the alternater toward the engine and remove the belt. Replace with a new belt and tighten by prying on the pry section (sorry, don't know how to better describe it) of the alternator; don't pry on the aluminum housing of the alternator. While holding the correct tension, tighten the adjusting bolt and replace the triangular plastic cap. Hope that helps. Good luck!

How do you change a fan belt in a Camaro?

You should just have to take a 1/2" ratchet, put it in the tensioner, pull back to release the tension and then slide the belt off. The new one will just slip on. That's if you have a serpentine system. If you have a v-belt system then you'll have to loosen one of the mounting nuts (usually for the AC compressor to release the tension.

If you have more info I can probably help more.

How do you adjust tappets on a 350?

Hey Dave==This does apply to the 305 since it is a chev engine. A 301 is a PONT engine and they have stops for the adjusting nuts. The 350 and 305 have hydraulic lifters and adjust as follows: Pull the coil wire so the engine won' start and bump the engine until the valves on #1 cylinder are both closed. Now turn the engine so the timing mark is on TDC. Adjust the following valves: INT 1-2-5-7 EX 1-3-4-8 Then turn the engine one turn so now it is firing on #6 cyl and adjust the folowing valves: INT 3-4-6-8 EXH 2-5-6-7 . When adjusting the valves, loosten the adjusting nut intil there is clearance between the rocker arm and valve end. Then tighten it just until there is no clearance{you can feel this if you turn the push rod while you tighten the nut} then turn the nut 3/4 turn MORE. This will compress the valve and the lifter will compensate. You can adjust them with the engine running but the oil goes EVEYWHERE and sometimes catches on fire. GoodluckJoe

How do you get alloy wheels of a Citroen Saxo 2002 model if you've lost the key dealer could not help without key number - which is on the key?

you can buy a tool from local tool stockist. It is basicly a socket but instead of having a hex on the inside, its got a left hand thread. You tap it on locking wheel nut then turn as if loosening, the threads grip the stud and wind on tight until it locks on, keep turning and it will eventually release the wheel stud. The AA and RAC carry these tools along with a flask of hot tea. Get a LONG 19mm socket and HAMMER it onto the nut, then it should just unscrew, but you have to HAMMER it right on so it "bites" = Check out Screwfix Direct they sell the tool that you need and deliver next day. http://www.screwfix.com/search.do;jsessionid=11PBB5MLDUDXMCSTHZPCFFQ?_dyncharset=UTF-8&fh_search=wheel+nut

IF you have a welder or know sum1 with one, weld another wheel nut to the end of it and undo like a regular wheel nut :D

How do you change the fan belt on a 1991 GMC Sonoma?

First and foremost, make sure you have a diagram before removing the old belt. If there isnt one under the hood, get out the pencil and paper and draw it out labeling the pullies and arrows pointing to the direction the belt travels on them. Save this paper in the glove compartment when the job is done for future reference. As far as replacing goes, it depends on the engine. Believe it or not, they are different amongst manufacturers, makes and models, so Bclear! If there is a spring loaded tensioner, youll need to turn the tensioner back to relieve pressure, and slide the belt off the tensioner pulley. Depending on the tensioner, you may be able to use a socket wrench with the right socket, 3/8 drive with socket wrench, or in some cases, youll need a tool that is meant for just this called a belt tensioner wrench. After it is relieved of tension, the belt can be removed. The new one gets routed the same, if you cant remember, refer to your diagram. If you didnt make one and cant remember, listen closely and youll hear me laughing at you. Some belts require motor mounts to be removed and some are just plain nasty, such as the 1.9 motor found in ford escorts. If there is no tensioner. Look for a bolt going through a bracket that the alternater or power steering mounts to. Loosen the bolt, pry back whatever components keeps tension, and replace the belt. Make the tension respectfully taunt and tighten bolt back down after the belt is replaced..

locate the spring tensioner roller assembly and release the tension with a 1/2 inch breaker bar while you remove the belt from the closest pully you can reach at the same time. When you put a belt back on you have to release the tension roller while slipping the belt back on the last pulley.

How do you change the fan belt on a 1995 Grand Am SE?

You will have to remove the motor mount which the fan belt runs through. The motor will have to be supported underneath with a big block of wood and a jack. A serpentine belt tool (rent for free from Canadian tire) will be needed to get the belt on.

How do you change a Toyota 95 land-cruiser fan belt?

There are two identical in length belts that turn go ever the fan pulley and turn the fan. To get to them you need to remove the A/C belt first (and probably best to change it now as well). The A/C belt can be removed by loosening the idler pulley that is next to the A/C compressor. Working from beneath the vehicle, you will need a 14mm box end wrench. Loosen the bolt that goes through the idler pulley, just a little loose. Then use a 14mm socket and ratchet to take the tension off of the belt by turning the bolt that moves the idler pulley.

Once the A/C belt is off, move to the engine compartment, from the front on the drivers side is the alternator. You will need to loosen the pivot bolt for the alternator. (I believe you will need 12mm wrenches for the alternator bolts/nuts) It is located on the lower corner of the alternator. Once a little loose, use a socket and ratchet to turn the adjuster for the alternator. You may have to use your hand to pivot the alternator as you turn the adjuster. Remove the two belts, then put everything back together in the reverse order.

When tightening the belts, turn the adjustments until there is about a 1/2 inch of deflection in the belt between the pulleys. You don't want the belts too tight as the excess tension will cause undo stress on the bearings of the components and cause premature failure. Basically you want them just tight enough that they won't slip/squeal under load.

Good luck.

How do you change the fan belt on a 2002 Toyota RAV4?

Just got done changing mine. Lift and Support the vehicle. Remove plastic shield from under vehicle on passenger side. You will see a small shock absorber assembly slightly to the left of the water pump pulley. It has two 14mm nuts holding it on. The lower nut has a torx (star) stud in the middle. Take a 14mm shallow socket on a 3/8" break over bar and put it on the UPPER nut. Push the bar towards the firewall. This will relieve the tension on the belt. Make sure you draw out the belt routing before you remove it. This is a job more suited for two people. It would help to have one person operating the break over bar and the other helping to guide to the belt on.
