There were movie theaters around during WWII and it was the main source of information about the war for the US (since not everyone had a tv they would show news before the movie) I'm sure they had theaters in Germany at the time, so I'd feel safe saying that they did.

"Dish Night", along with "Bank Night", were popular promotions at movie theaters in the 1930s and 1940s. It was a night, usually weekly, when all patrons at a theater would get a dish when they attended the movie being shown. So it's likely that, at some point, all theaters in Philadelphia (and across the country) gave out dishes at one point or another.
