There are several places one could find a picture of a cottonwood tree. One could look in a non-fiction book about trees. One could also do an image search on their computer. Additionally, one could find a cottonwood tree and take a picture themselves.
According to most sources, France does not have an official tree.

The State of Oregon has a tree in the center of it's license plate. See the link below for a picture of the plate.
That would depend on the state in which you live. You could type your state's name into Google, and find your state's tree listed on the state's web page.
Go onto google images http://images.google.com and in the search section type in "Spain Christmas tree" or "Spanish Christmas tree" then search for it.
Try any hobby store for supplies and look around online to find anything else that you may not always find at your local store. It's odd you should bring this up as I had the same problem. I found a picture of the tree I was looking for (Japanese tree that I wanted to paint on my bedroom feature wall) and I found a good picture off the internet, then I rented a projector. The projector picks up the imagine of the picture of the tree and you can adjust the largeness of it. It works very well. You could also find a picture of the tree that you want and with a pencil, divide it into 2 or 3 inch squares and then mark the wall into squares(as many squares as are on picture), then paint each square as you see it. You can find a pine tree in a forest but not every state grows them sometimes you have to go to a Christmas tree farm to get one.
