i have a pacemaker and i was told not to weld any more and to avoid electrcal shocks. the reason for staying away from welding is that a welding machine creates a strong electromagnetic field and that can adversely affect the function of a pacemaker. i was told by someone that when people with pacemakers die of some cause other than heart related that the funeral home has to put a magnet over the dead person`s pacemaker to stop their heart from beating. magnetic fields and pacemakers i am told do not get along. proceed with caution. i believe a cell phone creates a magntic field also, albeit not as powerful as a welding machine, and i carry my cell phone in the pocket of my t-shirt sometimes right over or close to my pacemaker with no problem. you should have gotten a handbook with your pacemaker of do`s and don`ts. i really enjoyed welding and have done it off and on for years and i know if presented with an opportunity to do it again the temptatation would probably get the best of me. good luck.
Yes heat resistant gloves are a good idea for welding though very thick leather welding gloves are most commonly used and safest. Global Industrial is good.
Welding is possible by someone with a pacemaker. The arc generated by the welding process is very concentrated and will not cause a problem in someone implanted with the device. It is important to be especially cautious however to avoid electrical shock as such an incident may damage a pacemaker or cause it to fail. Welding on a pacemaker is extremely dangerous, It is a must to take an opinion from a certified doctor
Standard welding gloves are just really thick leather to prevent from accidental burns not long term exposure to the flames.
By using insulating gloves and using gas welding instead of electric arc welding.
In plastic welding, equipment used includes plastic welders (some are ultrasonic) and as with any type of welding, protective equipment such as gloves.
Welding gloves can be found in most hardware stores with the advantage that they can be tried on before purchasing to ensure they will be suitable for use. They are also available on websites such as Harborfreight and Amazon.

Being a person who used to weld myself, I recommend Miller HD leather mig/stick gloves. You won't be disappointed.
The best gloves i have used so far for general welding was probably the miller HD leather mig/stick gloves. The have a nice liner inside and full contoured leather on the outside. They are comfortable and pretty tough, but if your fitting up steel or moving stuff and using them like normal work gloves in a shop they will only last a few weeks(just like every other pair of gloves). If he does some welding at home or just welds at work( no fit up or anything, just lays beads) they would be about the best pair you can get.
These gloves can protect your hands from hurting by the spark splashed out, the convection heat, ultraviolet radiation and other resulted mechanical damages resulted.
"While using welding equipment, you should always wear safety googles and protective gloves." Make sure you have on a welding jacket and long pants when you're using welding equipment. Those sparks can be very dangerous.
Safety awareness, Welding helmet, gloves, welding jacket, welders hat, chipping hammer, safety glasses, heavy pants, leather shoes, hand grinder, and a wire brush.
