In the absence of a square pan AND a round pan (in which case you would cut the round in halves and go from there), I would say you'll have to cut it into the shape. Makes frosting it more difficult because the cake interior is crumby, so I'd recommend using a pastry bag to pipe icing onto the cut sides.
