It really depends on the style of the respirator and the length of the mustashe.

You can have regular lengths mustashe with the Scott airpack models and there are alot of military pilots that sport a shorter mustache when using their respirators while flying.

Where can a mustache be worn with a respirator?

It depends on what type of respirator you're talking about. If you're talking about a tight fitting, negative pressure respirator, then facial hair can be worn as long as it doesn't interfere with the seal. Examples of tight fitting negative pressure respirators are 3M's 8210, 8511, 6200, 7502, or 6800. Even in tight fitting, positive pressure applications, facial hair cannot come between the seal of the respirator to the face and fit testing is still required. One of the main advantages of loose fitting positive pressure respirators is that more facial hair can be worn. Again, no facial hair can interfere with the seal of the respirator to the face but loose fitting respirators would include hoods like a 3M H410 or any 3M L Series headgear. Read OSHA reg 1910.134 and 3M.com/OccSafety for more info.

What is the difference between a respirator and a ventilator?

"Respirator" is an old word used for the machine most health care personnel would today call a "ventilator". The only time I hear the word "respirator" used today is when talking about respirator masks, which are the specialized masks worn by health care workers when coming into close contact with tuberculosis patients.

What rhymes with respirator?

The word respirator has no perfect rhymes.

What respirators should be used with mouse feces?

Any respirator will do. Make sure you're buying a "respirator" and not just a mask. The packaging will say "respirator". If you are working in an attic, especially in summer, you'll be apt to remove the respirator because of the heat and discomfort as well as the inability to communicate with others (I know this personally). However, if you do this, you might as well not even wear the respirator in the first place. If you're entering an area that you know contains rodents, just try to get the job done as quickly as you can with the respirator on. I was an electrician and worked in lots of old houses and I got used to wearing the respirator. I was also a soldier and learned the importance of trusting my equipment. A respirator is much more comfortable than an NBC pro mask.

What is the difference between a Qualitative Fit Test and a Quantitative Fit Test?

Respirator fit testing is performed to determine how well a respirator seal fits a persons face. Just like people try on shoes to make sure they are comfortable and fit well, a respirator must be fitted to insure maximum protection from contaminates and comfort. With a respirator if there is a leak or it is not worn properly the wearer could be exposed to potentially deadly chemicals. OSHA's regulation 1910.134 explains that employers are responsible for ensuring employees have a respirator fit test to ensure proper face piece to face seal. There are two methods for administering a respirator fit test. Those methods are qualitative and quantitative.Even though Qualitative methods are permitted by OSHA they are subjective and usually do not hold up if ever litigated. Qualitative fit testing uses a challenge agent like banana oil or saccharin. The test is subjective and relies on the workers sense of taste or smell. OSHA regulations only permit the use of qualitative testing for respirators that require an Assigned Protection Factor of 10 or less. This means if you perform a qualitative test on a full face respirator, that respirator cannot be used in concentrations greater than 10 times the chemical's permissible exposure limit.Quantitative respirator fit testing uses a device that measures exact leakage into the breathing zone of the respirator face piece. Contrary to popular perception, it actually takes less time to conduct a quantitative test then a qualitative because there is no taste or odor threshold screening time required.

What type of respirator is recommended for interior house painting?

Two types of respirators are generally worn when spraying paint; air-purifying and air-supplied. If oxygen levels are not adequate, the air-supplying respirator must be used. The type of air-purifying respirators that are used during paint spraying remove particulate vapors and gas, and are called Particulate Vapor and Gas Removing Air-Purifying Respirators.

What kind of respirator would you use for grain bin dust?

If it is only the dust you are worried about then a particulate respirator will provide protection, i.e. a N95 up to a P100. That is if there is enough oxygen in the area that you can use an air purifying respirator. If not then you would need to use supplied air. Supplied air is often used during the fumigation process where a cartridge respirator may not provide adequat protection.
