There are several ways to access public records. First, drive to your local courthouse or city hall. Second, search online. Almost all States, Counties and Cities are making a good portion of their public records available online. You may be able to access land records, foreclosures, marriage records and court documents.

You can check for public court records several different ways. The main 2 would be to check with your local courthouse and request the information or you can check for the court records online.

To check for records online you will first need to determine the state, county or city court that'll have the court records you're looking for. You'll also need to determine what type of court has the records. Whether it be civil, criminal, probate, juvenile, superior etc.

Next step is to locate the court's website and see if they have an online search-able database of court records. Court records typically can be searched a number of different ways but the most common are by case number, name, date or case type.

A copy of your criminal history record can be obtained by going to your local law enforcement agency and requesting a copy. There may be a small administrative fee, and be sure to bring your ID with you. Court records are a different matter. They are generally not computerized nor are they on-line. To view a case file jacket you will have to go in person to the Clerk of The Court office and give them the name of the case the date(s) the trial was conducted, and you should be able to look over the case file. You will not be allowed to take it from the building or take anything out of it. You MAY be allowed to copy some of the material depending on the laws in your state.

It depends on the type of record. Court records are maintained by the clerk of court. Vital records are usually maintained by an office of vital records. Zoning and land records are usually maintained by a county department for such.

Public records are records that are available to the public, sometimes at a fee. These records have not been sealed by the court, nor have they been marked as classified or top secret. An individual simply needs to petition, in writing, the agency he or she is wishing to obtain the documents from. The petition, or request, should contain the name of the individual, mailing address, and the type of record they are wanting to receive.

Different states have different types of records available for free. Things like property records are found online. Birth, marriage, death and marriage certificates are not available for free online due to the personal information on them.

It will depend on the specific nature of the court records that are desired. In general, many states and municipalities have websites where court records may be requested through the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (or PACER) system. Different areas will have different laws as to what can be publicly released, and, in some cases, a fee may be charged for certain kinds of desired information.

You could go to a courthouse (keep in mind juvenile arrests are not pubic records) , a local registry of deeds, different websites, or maybe even check with local record keepers.

You could, but you would have to go to various government agencies to get them (depending on what information you want).
