Remove the top radiator hose. The thermostat is located under the hose inlet on the engine. Remove the inlet to replace the thermostat.
You should have a diagram to the left of the hood latch. In the diagram, it should show the tension pulley that needs to relieved. Tools: long ratchet wrench and socket. It's fairly easy to do.

Drain the radiator into a container. Remove the upper radiator hose from the engine at the thermostat. Remove the bolts, housing and the thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the thermostat and gasket. Reinstall the housing and upper hose and top off the coolant.
remove old thermostat and replace with new thermostat and gasket
place your hand on the top radiater hose fallow it to the engine, remove the hose. the fiting that hose was on is the thermostat housing remove it and and then the thermostat. note how it looks as you remove it replace it with new one exactly the same way.
Replace your thermostat whenever you replace the coolant and service the cooling system. Also replace it if you suspect it is sticking.
