One can find the most expensive but reliable fuel filters at a local car dealer or automobile repair shop. Amazon and eBay have this product too although while cheaper, they are less reliable.
They are permanent filters that are only replaced when the fuel pump is replaced.
some do . some don't
Yes, all automobiles have fuel filters. Some are permanent and mounted in the fuel tank and some you can replace.
In most vehicles now the fuel pump is located in the gas tank. A lot of filters are located in the tank also depending on the vehicle. Some filters located on firewall, framerails, etc.. Locate the fuel line coming from the tank and follow it up to the engine. If it's not in the tank you will find it in the lines somewhere.
Different years of Outbacks have different fuel filters. Some don't have a filter outside of the gas tank.
It depends on the manufacturer. You can usually go to your local auto parts retailer and purchase the fuel filter for YOUR vehicle. They will have the list of vehicles and their associated filters. If you find a knowledgable clerk he/she will even be able to help you find your fuel filter and give you some pointers on how to change it.
Fuel filters are located under the vehicle along the fuel line. You will just have to follow the fuel line back till you find a metal canister. Its either connected with clips or nuts. On some Dodge Neons it is located in the fuel tank and is non-servicable.
Fueleconomy.gov is a good website to find tips on preserving fuel in your vehicle. Dailyfueleconomytip.com is another good site offering fuel economy tips.
There are many retailers that sell air purifiers and filters. www.amazon.com is a very thorough site, and you may also find good deals on www.ebay.com or www.craigslist.com
some toothpastes, paints, & filters.
Depends on what year and engine. A lot of them will have primary and secondary fuel filters.. the secondary will usually be a canister filter, regardless of engine make, while the primary can be either a canister or a Davco fuel filter. For canister filters, take them off with a filter wrench, fill the new filters with fuel, lubricate the gasket with some diesel fuel.. hand tighten them, then turn them 3/4 of a turn more with the filter wrench.
Clogged fuel filters result in poor throttle response and lack of power. Filters should be ideally changed before that happens. The 2002 Trailblazer owner manual says fuel filter should be changed at 100k miles. I expect the 2003 manual makes some comment. I have a 2002 and just changed filters.
