If the process has not even started, well, then, we are looking at a long time. Clearwire needs a heavy dose of additional funding to finish its next round of expansion of the WiMax network, and if Sprint pulls the plug it might not get the money it needs. If that happens, Sprint might start transitioning to LTE, and support WiMax only in the cities where it already exists. Sprint's head hinted last year that it was not tied to WiMax and could switch if market conditions changed.
