Directed by Oscar-winner Ron Howard, "Frost/Nixon" is a 2008 behind-the-scenes drama about British television host David Frost's one-on-one TV interviews with former President Richard Nixon in 1977. Nixon, who resigned as president in 1974 largely because of Watergate, had never publicly discussed the scandal before the Frost interviews. The former president was paid a little more than half a million dollars for the interviews, which were syndicated and sold to numerous television stations worldwide. The interviews became the subject of Peter Morgan's play "Frost/Nixon," which starred Michael Sheen as Frost and Frank Langella as Nixon. It premiered in London in 2006 and eventually moved to the West End. It then opened on Broadway in 2007 and earned Langella a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. Sheen and Langella re-created their roles for the movie version. The film version of "Frost/Nixon" received five 2008 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Langella), Best Director (Howard), Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing.
