Sandbags are a good way to include variety in how you perform your anaerobic and aerobic training. It is not a painful process to make your own sandbags, and you should be able to do it in less than a couple of hours. Sandbags are helpful in that they can replace the usual weight lifting movements you usually perform, such as bench presses, squats or shoulder presses. They can even help with cardiovascular training. It can cost several hundred dollars if you were to purchase a sandbag from a retailer, meaning that the savings will be phenomenal if you were to make them yourself.Go out to the store and buy everything will you need, which includes sand, Ziploc bags, and duct tape. If you are interested in making several sandbags of varying weights and sizes, get yourself a canvas bag, a roll of duct tape, a box of Ziploc bags and however much sand you think will be necessary to weigh down all of your sandbags.Take the sand and put some into a Ziploc bag, filling it up to three-quarters of the way. Zip it closed and use the duct tape to ensure its sealing. Take two more pieces of the tape and maneuver them onto the bag so that they are at a perpendicular angle.Get some freezer bags and fill them with the smaller bags until it reaches three-quarters filled. Follow the same step as before, using the duct tape to make sure the bag is fully sealed and then taping it perpendicularly onto the top.Take your canvas bag and weigh it, gradually filling it with your freezer bags until it reaches the weight you desire. Try stuffing in some pillowcases in the canvas bag if you find there is excess slack.Pick up the bag and slam it around, against the floor and the wall. Open the bag and see if there is anything leaking sand. If your bags all seem to be free from rips and tears, then you are ready to use them for your exercises.Repeat these steps as many times as you have sandbags.
