You can take them to a bank for face value, but any coin dealer or gold & silver buyer will pay a lot more, check the web for one near you.

1964 is the first year of issue and the only year it was struck in 90% silver. The coins are very common. Even uncirculated coins are valued only for the silver they contain, about $12.00.
US Dimes, Quarters and Half dollars dated 1964 and before are 90% silver. All US Dollar coins dated 1935 and before are also 90% silver.
Sorry, no US dollar coins exist dated 1964. Eisenhower first appeared on the dollar coin in 1971. The coin is likely a 1964 Kennedy HALF dollar. Look at the coin again and post new question.
